K.L.E. Society’s S.A. Manvi Law College, Gadag (Karnataka) has organised KLE Law Academy’s Moot Court Competition from 5th to 7th December, 2024. Moot court has been considered as the most effective clinical method for students of law to acquire the abilities of the art of articulation and doing legal research professionally. This competition was an excellent platform for the students of law to showcase their skills. The moot court proposition was on the Constitutional Law involving key issues connected with the basic structure of the Constitution and the drastic changes being witnessed in the constitutional jurisprudence in the country. In this competition 16 teams from across the country had participated.
On 5th December 2024 at 6.30 p.m. the competition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka at ConferenceHall, JT college campus, Gadag.Further, Prof. (Dr.) C. BasavarajuHon’ble Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi, Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.N. Shiva Shankare Gowda and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Umesh Manjunathbhat Adiga were the guests of honour. The inauguration function was presided over by Shri Shrishailappa C. Metgud, Director, Board of Management, KLE Society, Belagavi and Chairman of KLE Law Colleges.
The competition consisted of Preliminary, Quarter final, Semi-final and Final rounds. On 6th December 2024 the preliminary and quarter finals rounds were conducted in KLE Society’s S.A. Manvi Law College, Gadag, whereas the semi-final and final rounds were conducted in KLE Society’s G.K. Law College, Hubballi on 7th December 2024.
In the above competition team from KLE Society’s B.V. Bellad Law College, Belagavi has won the final round and became winners, while Saveetha School of Law, Chennai has won runners-up prize. The Best memorial prize was bagged by School of Law, Christ University, Bengaluru. Further, Mr. Sairaj Amble from KLE Society’s B.V. Bellad Law College, Belagavi the Best Advocate Male prize while Ms. Keerthana from Saveetha School of Law, Chennai has won Best Advocate Female prize.
The competition was judged by many practicing advocates of trial court and High Court, professors, academicians including Addl. Advocate General and President Consumer Commission. The final round was judged by three judges of Karnataka High Court viz Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Makkimane Ganeshaiah Uma,Hon’ble Mr. Justice Umesh Manjunathbhat Adiga, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil.
On 7th December 2024 the valedictory function was conductedin KLE Society’s G.K. Law College, Hubballi at 3 p.m. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhai Sreeniwas Oka Judge, Supreme Court of India was the chief guest.Dr. H.K.
